GLOSSY FLEMISH MEDIUM

Used pure, the Flemish medium can be used to create precise, defined brushstrokes which stay put. Diluted, it can be used to create clear, glossy glazes.

  • Texture: thick gel
  • Finish: glossy
  • Drying time: medium

The Flemish medium is made from linseed oil and mastic resin. Used pure, it can create precise brushstrokes in light impasto, adding depth and light to the painting. Diluted with a clear painting medium to 50%, it can be used to create very thin glazes to heighten the depth, glossiness and transparency of the painting. It dries more slowly than the Venetian medium but enables you to create a consistent finish when used over the entire painting.
